Never in a Million Years
(But for a Million Dollars)

Every band says never. Every band comes back once the number is right. We held out longer than most. The number arrived anyway.

For decades, Japanese Tea Garden actively avoided success on principle. Multi-million dollar deals were declined before they were offered. Then someone did the math on what "a million dollars" actually buys in this economy, and principle quietly excused itself from the room. This is that album. We're not proud of it. We're also not giving it back.

"We said we'd never do this. We meant it, too. It just turns out 'never' has a price, and the price is lower than you'd think. More fertilizer, more garden. We're not above it. We were never above it. We were just waiting for someone to ask nicely, with a check."
