Slow in the Cone Zone

Lyrics
I got the call that you're all jammed up
Your juice ran dry, you needed a pump-up
So I flew across the country just to start some wild
But then it hit me, we were in denial
The terminal pickup didn't seem real
But for some reason you got behind the wheel
You tried to convince me you were fine
But you didn't know that I could read your mind
You asked me if there was something to do
For some f'n reason, we're at the zoo
Traffic ahead, miles to go
Why where we're going, I really don't know
But we're slow in the cone zone, baby
Slow in the cone zone
Traffic ahead, miles to go
Why where we're going, I really don't know
But we're slow in the cone zone, baby
Slow in the cone zone
We didn't let the traffic spoil our time
As it turns out, we are going to be fine
Give the finger to the guy ahead
And the one on the side
Going to the zoo?
No, really... it's fine
Traffic ahead, miles to go
Why where we're going, I really don't know
But we're slow in the cone zone, baby
Slow in the cone zone
Inspiration
Japanese Tea Garden was formed in a rental car on the way to the San Francisco Zoo. The founding member's husband had just survived a heart attack. They never made it to the zoo. Stuck in traffic, a flashing construction sign read: SLOW IN THE CONE ZONE. The band's first single was born. The melody arrived shortly after. The zoo remains unvisited.
