Real Loss
Album I — Catalog of Obvious Hits
Track 2
Melody: Was It 26 (Stapleton) meets Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)
Lyrics
We were sharing our lives together
Or so the story goes
What really happened is you took it all
Even my very soul
I thought it all really mattered
The worst thing in a daze
But what in reality hit me
I haven't pooped in days
Gave my entire life to my work family
We're all for one and one for all
That's the way they said they were going to be
Then the tariffs hit and the stocks got dire
After my 10 hour shift they said that I was fired
I thought it all really mattered
The worst thing in a daze
But what in reality hit me
I haven't pooped in days
I thought it all really mattered
The worst thing in a daze
But what in reality hit me
I haven't pooped in days
[music fades]
[barely audible in the background]
"Man...let me get out of here...I really got to take a shit..."
Inspiration
Real Loss was written as a meditation on cumulative hardship and the universal human experience of perseverance. The outro was unscripted. The message, however, was intentional. This too will pass. And you will poop again. — Japanese Tea Garden
Note: The title was chosen specifically to not give away the punchline. You're welcome.
